Our Beginnings

A Brief Timeline of the Wag’n Tails Company History

One Fine Day in 1971…

Our family opens the first pet grooming salon
in St. Paul, MN. Within five years we are operating six salons.
To better serve the growing pet grooming clientele,
we purchase the first two mobile pet grooming vans. By 1980 we have six grooming vans serving the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
Wag’n Tails relocates to Howell, MI. Over the next
ten years our mobile pet grooming business grows to 22 vans and two salons serving central and southeastern Michigan.

Wag’n Tails adds Lansing, Michigan to the mobile grooming service area.

Wag’n Tails founds the Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology in Lansing, Michigan
in order to provide pet grooming training for central Michigan.
Wag’n Tails Pet Resorts opens, providing boarding and grooming in Lansing, MI.
This is the beginning of Wag’n Tails pet grooming vehicles’ availability for
sale to independent grooming businesses throughout the US. Our founder, Dina Perry, shares her knowledge of the mobile grooming business model
and provides a well-designed vehicle to ensure success. In 1991 her son, Dennis, purchases the business.
Dennis and his father, Chuck, open an 8,000 square foot facility and hire the best
people to start the manufacturing and marketing of our Wag’n Tails Mobile Pet Grooming Units.
Because of the exceptional growth of the mobile pet grooming industry,
Wag’n Tails opens its new 24,000 square foot facility in Granger, Indiana.
Over 2800 independent mobile pet grooming businesses have been established in the US and seven other countries.
