Well, it’s official – Mobile Grooming for a Cause 2023 has wrapped up. We had more than 100 Wag’n Tails customers sign up to participate this year – they groomed more than 265 shelters dogs across the country with many of them finding their forever homes due, in large part, to the efforts of our skilled customers.

We created Mobile Grooming for a Cause more than a decade ago. We hoped that it would encourage our customers to donate grooms at their local shelters so more dogs would get adopted. We decided to hold the event in October to encourage more pet adoptions because October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, which is sponsored and promoted by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

From our experience, we’ve found that dogs that look well-manicured are more likely to be adopted than dogs that aren’t as clean and look shaggy.  Mobile Grooming for a Cause allowed groomers to give back to their community and provide a vital service to dogs – and potentially win some great prizes!

As an extra incentive to encourage our customers to donate grooms, we offered some awesome prizes to the three people who donated the most grooms during the month. And today we are excited to announce our winners for Mobile Grooming for a Cause.

Our first-place winner is Lynsey Huttlinger, who will receive a $10,000 vacation to a destination of her choice for grooming 54 dogs throughout the month.

Second place was awarded to Sarah Wright, who will receive a $1,000 certificate to Groomers Choice for grooming 41 dogs.

Third place goes to Michelle Fuller who will receive a $500 certificate for Lalas Shampoo for grooming 32 dogs.

It was an honor to award these prizes to dedicated groomers in our community.

“Starting Mobile Grooming for a Cause over a decade ago has allowed for so many shelter animals to get extra care and attention to prepare them for adoption. We have seen firsthand how this process really can work and have seen animals become adopted from getting a good groom. Our industry loves and cares for animals and so the Wag’n Tails team is proud to contribute to that with animals in need. We are so proud of our winners and all the groomers who participated nationwide.” Says Dennis Gnetz, CEO of Wag’n Tails.

We are so proud of our winners and all who participated in the cause.

“It’s wonderful that you guys encouraged us to get to the shelters and help. The dogs need us!” says Huttlinger.

We hope to see more shelter dogs groomed year-round and love the involvement our mobile groomers have with their communities.

Great job and thank you to everyone who participated!
