This partnership ensures Project Street Vet can meet pets where they are — bringing vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and emergency care directly to encampments and outreach events. The Wag’n Tails veterinary van offers a climate-controlled, state-of-the-art workspace designed for efficiency and compassion.

The Work Behind the Van
Since its founding in 2020, Project Street Vet has grown into a national effort to close the gap in veterinary access for pets whose owners face housing insecurity.
In Atlanta, veterinarians like Dr. Kristen Schmidt regularly spend 12-hour days administering vaccines, spaying and neutering pets, and delivering food and supplies across multiple encampments — all at no cost to pet owners. Through this collaboration, Project Street Vet can expand that reach even further, continuing to provide free care to pets whose owners face housing insecurity, removing barriers and strengthening the human-animal bond along the way.
